Brian Wieser
Brian Wieser, CFA, is MAGNA Global's Director of Industry analysis. He is responsible for overseeing analyses of and forecasts for national media marketplaces based upon financial and database modeling.
Additionally, Brian provides analyses on issues affecting the media industry, and has published thematic papers on topics such as Multicultural Media, Video on Demand, DVRs and 3G Mobile Networks. He has been cited in publications such as Broadcasting & Cable, The Wall Street Journal, and MediaWeek. Media Magazine included him among the industry's "100 people to know" in 2004 and 2005 and was a keynote speaker at their Forecast 2005 conference.
Brian joined MAGNA in 2003 from Deutsche Bank Securities, where he was a member of Institutional Investor's #2-ranked Cable and Satellite sector equity research team. He was responsible for modeling financial projections and analyzing companies including Comcast, Cox, Time Warner Cable, DirecTV, EchoStar, GemStar-TV Guide, and Scientific-Atlanta.
Prior to Deutsche Bank, Brian worked for Lehman Brothers in the firm's Communications and Media Group, providing a range of investment banking advisory services to clients including XM Satellite Radio, Primedia, Time Warner, and Vivendi Universal.
Brian is a graduate (with distinction) from the University of Western Ontario's MBA program and completed his undergraduate studies at the University of British Columbia. Brian is also a CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) charterholder.
